North Wales is home to several stunning and beautiful waterfalls, with Swallow Falls near Betws-y-Coed being the most well-known and easy to reach without hiking.
On a nearly 50-meter-long stretch of the Conwy River tributary Afon Llugwy, foaming water flows down a sequence of waterfalls surrounded by forest.
The river is near the A5, and there are parking spaces adjacent to the Betws-y-Coed Youth Hostel and the Swallow Falls Hotel. The hotel is an excellent place to stop thanks to its pub and outside seats.
From the main road, a small fee is required to watch the waterfalls, which are initially viewed from downstream. The route then ascends to provide a view of the waterfalls from above.
The less busy option is to go a short distance up the road before crossing it and taking a walkway on the opposite bank. This route does not have an admission charge.
