The Easter holidays are starting and the long Easter Weekend is just a few days away. Whether you’re native to Wales or visiting for the holidays, you will be busy thinking of things to keep the family entertained and happy.

Easter Egg Hunts
There are lots of Easter Egg hunts across Wales at castles, national trust properties, gardens and more. Here are just a few:
The Big Museum Easter Trail at the National Wool Museum (runs 8-9 April, pre-booking required).
The Easter Dragon Egg Hunt at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales (setting for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!). Runs 1-16 April, prebooking recommended.
Cadw Wales properties also have a number of exciting activities, although some only run for a couple of days over the Easter Weekend.
The Easter Egg Trail at Blaenavon Ironworks near Abergavenny runs from Friday 7 to Friday 14 April and children will receive an egg prize for a completed trail.
Easter Egg Hunt Trail at Laugharne Castle runs Easter Sunday and Monday (9-10 April) only. Children will receive an Easter Prize for finding the hidden eggs.
The Mediaeval Easter Eggstravaganza Weekend at Denbigh Castle includes an egg hunt and Princes Retinue Medieval Living History – with have-a-go archery, knights and ladies, combat show and medieval camp. Easter Saturday and Sunday (8-9 April) only.
More Days out with Easter-themed activities and egg hunts
These are similar to the Easter Egg hunts but many offer even more activities.
The Great Easter Eggsperience at Manorafon Farm Park in Abergele offers plenty to keep the family entertained all day. In addition to the woodland Easter Egg Hunt, there are craft activities, planting in the potting shed, Easter showtime and much more. The entrance fee also includes general farm park entry. Runs 1-9 April.
Castle Coch near Cardiff is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza with a castle trail running Sunday 2-Sunday 16 April, and face painting and storytelling over the bank holiday weekend itself.
There’s an Easter Fun Day at Rhuddlan Castle close to Rhyl and Prestatyn on Easter Sunday only (9 April). Hear local legends brought to life with music by musician and published author, Mair Tomos Ifans. Take part in an Easter Quest and decorate a biscuit.
Celebrate Easter with the Ardudwy Knights at Harlech Castle on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Combat displays and weaponry demonstrations are planned, as well as an Easter egg hunt. Satuday 8 to Monday 10 April.
More Easter Fun is promised at Caerphilly Castle with an egg hunt and craft activities running Sun 2-Sun 16 April.
Beaumaris Castle Easter Eggstravaganza promises an action packed weekend of medieval fun with knights, archers, circus performers, musicians and even the castle’s excecutioner. There’s also the obligatory egg hunt thrown in! Sun 09 Apr – Mon 10 Apr only.
National Trust Easter Trails
National Trust properties and gardens in Wales also have lots of brilliant Easter themed activities planned. In total you’ll find 13 different events which you can explore via this link. We don’t have space to talk about them all, but here are our top three:
Easter adventures at Colby Woodland Garden near Amroth in Pembrokeshire. Enjoy the Easter Egg trail and nature-themed activities in the beautiful gardens. Runs 7-10 April.
Easter egg hunt at Dolaucothi Gold Mines, Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire. The trail includes activities for the whole family and includes an Easter trail sheet, pencil, bunny ears and choice of either a chocolate egg or a vegan and Free From chocolate egg. Enjoy the trail and explore the 1930’s Mine Yard at Dolaucothi which is the UK’s only Roman Gold Mine.
Easter Adventures at Plas Newydd, Llanfairpwll, Anglesey runs 1-10 April and offers an easter trail and chance to explore the beautiful gardens and grounds of Plas Newydd with its spectacular views of Snowdonia. There’s also an adventure playground, frisbee golf and woods to enjoy.
